Legendary American women’s bodybuilder Tonya Knight has passed away ate the age of 56 following a battle with cancer, with news of her passing reported on February 7th, according to SNBC 13 News.
Knight was a prominent figure in Womens Bodybuilding during the 1980s and 1990s, and was a Ms. International champion which was the second-most prestigious Women’s Bodybuilding competition behind Mr. Olympia, at the time.
Knight also appeared on the Olympia stage. Knight returned to the Ms. International stage in 1991, capturing the title in what would be the final victory of her historic career, and would go on to make her last two bodybuilding appearances at the 1992 Ms. International in sixth place as well as a third-place finish at the 1993 Jan Tana Classic.
The bodybuilding world took to social media to honor Knight upon the news of her passing.
